Pull-up leather is very popular, especially for residential, hotel, and corporate use. To fully appreciate this type of leather, it is important to understand its unique characteristics.
What is pull-up leather?
It is aniline dyed in a drum to create deep and vibrant colors. It is finished with a combination of transparent waxes and oils, which give the leather a very soft feel.
When this leather is stretched or pulled, the color migrates and becomes lighter in the pulled areas. Therefore, the name "pull-up" refers to this color change. Drastic variations in the light and dark areas increase as the leather is manipulated and stretched or pulled in different directions."Pull-up" becomes more evident as the leather is tightly stretched around furniture frames and other materials. While marks, scratches, and signs of wear will appear, a rich and glossy patina will also develop on the surface.
Advantages of pull-up leather:
● It has a very natural, slightly worn appearance;
● It becomes lighter when stretched;
● Soft and pleasant to the touch;
● Durable;
● Water-repellent.
● Easy to work with upholstery for chairs, armchairs, sofas, stools, headboards and bed frames, as well as for car upholstery, cushions, tablecloths, bags, photo albums, notebooks, and handmade products

General care tips:
The high concentrations of oils and fats in Pull-up leather make it harder for dirt and other contaminants to penetrate the leather, which is why it does not need to be cleaned as often as other types of leather.
● Avoid putting this material in water or any prolonged contact with water, although it has water-repellent qualities due to the oil and wax. However, these leathers can be damaged if completely submerged in water, especially when it comes to seawater.
● Also, avoid coloring this material with dyes or ink.
● The only way to remove persistent stains is to use a paste made from baking soda and water. Rinse after application and use of other skin care products;
● Deep cuts are almost impossible to remove from this material;
● Regularly apply leather conditioners along with glossy creams and aniline (the choice depends on the finish);
● Some craftsmen apply a drop of olive oil or hand moisturizer;
● Once a year, most leather experts recommend using a premium saddle soap or a special wax.
How to recognize authentic pull-up leather?
When choosing pull-up leather, be careful not to confuse it with lower quality leather covered with polyurethane (“PU leather” or “bi-cast leather”).Superficially, these "types of leather" may look similar to authentic "pull up".
Three tests help you when trying to distinguish between what is pull-up leather and what is not.
1. First, there is the characteristic "satin" or "semi-gloss" appearance of pull-up leather, especially when polished with a clean, dry cloth. Even "out of the box," the leather may have marks, some lighter and darker areas, and may even have a bit of residual scars from the original leather.
2. You can perform a "stretch" test. Bend the leather product and press it between your fingers. The color should lighten after stretching.
3. Gently try to scratch the leather with your nail.If the leather is white on the surface, it is a pull-up material.
Pull-up leather is a premium material that can give your products a noble and elegant appearance.
