  • What is velvet?

Velvet is a special material, a fine fabric with a noble touch that adds elegance to any room. It is certainly one of the finest and most pleasant materials to the touch, known throughout history as a luxury fabric that denotes refinement and good taste.

It can be used in many fields of activity, being the star of the winter season in fashion and throughout the year in interior design, where it is always in trend every year due to its elegance and fineness.

It was originally imported from the Middle East, and the secret of its manufacturing was well kept for many centuries.Used since the Middle Ages for upholstering chairs, making curtains, and also for producing various clothing items for the wealthy aristocracy of the world, becoming a symbol of nobility, velvet was initially made only from silk, which made its costs very high. To reduce costs, craftsmen occasionally incorporated other types of threads. After World War II, velvet began to be made from synthetic fibers as a substitute for silk, which made the material very accessible.

  • Usage

Velvet is used worldwide by most clothing manufacturers, textile garments being very diverse. The material is used for almost any type of outfit, including tops, blouses, pants, skirts, jackets, suits, overalls, dresses, and more recently sportswear and footwear, as well as accessories such as belts, bags, clutches, wallets, or jewelry.

This is frequently used in interior design for chair upholstery, making furniture covers, tablecloths, creating bedspreads and pillowcases, and in the new trend of upholstering doors in very elegant homes.

  • Velvet in interior design

Used since the Middle Ages for interior furniture, velvet is a noble fabric that enhances furniture by giving it refinement, warmth, and comfort through its refined and soft texture.

Thanks to new technologies, velvet can now be made in various options: matte, glossy, elastic, thick, or thin, thus becoming suitable for different furniture items in interior design.

Any piece of furniture upholstered with velvet fabric will be the centerpiece of the room and will provide a spectacular presence, whether we are talking about a curtain, an upholstered wall, or a sofa, as long as we beautifully juggle with the textures and colors of the room.

Combined with natural materials like wood or metal and used in moderation, it will harmonize with any room as long as it matches the color scheme of the room.

Our recommendation for you is Elite Textile Material, velvet type which is a soft plush for upholstery, used in both residential, artisanal, and industrial fields.
